SF meet-up (California Bay Area)

Hey all,

Melinda of MC4D fame wants to hold a meetup. My schedule is currently up in the air so I don't know if I'll be able to make either of these dates but I figured I should pass along the message. If you aren't subscribed to the MagicCube4D mailing list / Yahoo group I highly recommend it.

Consensus seems to be pointing towards January 26th. A date I'm almost certain I can make.

is probably the best way to find others near you. I think you should be
able to see those locations in the member's list

view. The rest of you may wish to add your locations to your profiles if
you are interested in meeting other nearby members.

We're using a turbo code to decide the dates. Each of us posts our date hypothesis and confidence level and that gets fed to all others who then revise their date hypothesis and confidence level until we can all agree on a date.

Apparently so. I never heard of this, but it actually makes a lot of sense, and I'm sure I've used this approach when reaching a consensus with other people on many occasions.

Awesome! Clearly the best date is turning out to be Jan 26, so no turbo
code required this time. As to location, we met in at the Higher Grounds
coffee shop in Glen Park which worked well given that it has a BART
station and avoids the sometimes unpredictable downtown traffic. It's
also a super cute neighborhood with several nice coffee shops and
eateries. Once I get an idea of the likely group size I may scout around
for a different place since that coffee shop is very tiny.

This is awesome, and although I can't be in SF on the 26th, I would like to host a sister meet-up in Austin! If anyone is in the area and interested, let me know. There are plenty of great coffee shops downtown, and we'll pick one if there are some responses.

I scouted out Glen Park yesterday and decided that the Higher Grounds Coffee Shop will probably be fine for 6 and possibly more with a bit of squeezing. If we decide to move, there are a couple of other nearby coffee shops we can try. Just call or text me if you don't find us there.

And please pass the word to other SF Bay Area friends you think may be interested.

Finally, here is the Google Maps link for Higher Grounds. The space/time coordinates are in the subject line. I would love to see you all there!

I'm really bummed I couldn't make this meetup. Several things managed to go wrong that together made it impossible for me to attend. Murphy has been working overtime on law enforcement.

I hope everyone had a great time and I hope there are pictures!

For my sake we're going to have to do another one of these soon...
