Nothing is know about this puzzle but there is this assumption:
It could be a IPP exchange, but with sliders that have holes in them, and when you line them all up you can drop the marble through. Then you might be able to change settings by pressing the arrows. Or there are gear randomizers that are turned by moving the sliders, and they only go into effect after there is some button pressed when the marble hits the button on the bottom, providing a different challenge each time.
