The Container is a Skewb mod produced by Tony Fisher.
Two squares of the original skewb were transformed to be the top and bottom squares of this shape. The other four original squares became the double-triangle-pieces on the edges.
Tony Fisher made this Container during two different periods of time in three different sizes and in two different colors.
The Container is one of the few ideas which were realised but not conceived by Tony Fisher. The idea steems from Jean-Claude Constantine (from France but living in Germany) who published a sketch of it with the name "Dose", a german word.
After request of Dieter Gebhardt in 1998 Tony Fisher made the first seven samples with edge lengths of 80mm and 110mm.
Dissatisfied with the results Tony picked up the concept again in 2006 and made a small sample using a Mini Skewb. This version has edge lengths of 45mm and 64mm.
Once again not satisfied Tony immediately started with a third design using a standard skewb again. This medium Container had edge lengths of 60mm and 88mm.
Tony was so satisfied with this third version that he started an experiment with different plastic and created a white puzzle of the same size.
