The Waterfall Cube Extreme is based on the concept of applying Square-1 vertical cuts based on a 3x3x3, rather than a 2x2x2 like the Square-1. This allows the cuts to be curved, as the puzzles are not deep cut like the Square-1 is.
One month after this puzzle the inventor presented a less bandaged variant called Waterfall Cube Ultimate. See the separate entry.

The Extreme is more bandaged than the Ultimate, and they solve completely differently. The Extreme is mostly intuitive with the bandaging providing a substantial challenge, while the Ultimate moves much more freely and is a true 3x3x3 equivalent of the Square-1.
