Puzzles are called Multi when all pieces of the inner layers that are usually invisible are made visible and have to solved together with the outer pieces. See the Multi-Skewb for the easiest example.
The Multi Rhombic Dodecahedron is very close to this puzzle but has a different shape and with (at least outside) deep cuts.
