This is a mass produced 4x4x4 (not based on the designs of Sebesteny or Eastsheen) with "cutaway" parts that reveal the centers and edges of the inner 3x3x3 that is normally hidden inside of that design of a 4x4x4.
It also shows explicitly how the alignment mechanism works on a 4x4x4 to keep the core aligned with the outer pieces. The circular pieces never rotate and an embossed segment forces the circles to turn with two of the four slices.
The puzzle is stickerless so that the internal edges could have colours as well.
