This is a straightforward shape transformation of a Kilominx, aka corners only megaminx. The shape is somewhere betweena truncated octahedron and a cuboctahedron. The exact shape was designed in order to leave eight pieces in triangular flat shape. This again makes the hexagon irregular. Links
