The Illusion Megaminx's twelves sides are half white centered and half black centered. (The V-Cube Illusion style with only one side reversed was tried but was too trivial to solve and abandoned.)
Three variants were created:
1) Half and Half. Where half the cube was white centered, the other half black. See images 1-2.
2) 3 and 3. Where two clusters of three centers of one colour were on opposite sides of the cube, and a line of 6 opposite colour faces woven between them. See image 3.
3) 1 and 5. Where half the cube had one center of one colour and five of the other, and the other half of the cube was reversed. See image 4.

All edges and corners pieces between opposite colour face are both black and white so that each face has a correct "checkerboard" pattern when solved. No two adjoining pieces of each face can be of the same colour.
