A 3x3x3 reduced as heavily as possible, not only in shape but also in mechanism.

Boney Cube is bascially a regular 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube. However, the parts are not held together by a core, but by a groove and rails system, similar to Hollow Cube. A boney structure was created with the nTolopogy Element software. The boney structure make the pieces light and strong at the same time. The puzzle is a colour puzzle. There are nine colours with three cubies per colour. The object of the puzzle is to scramble the puzzle like a Rubik's Cube and then try to get it back having nine different colours at each face and layer. The puzzle challenge is identical to Mefferts Sudoku Ball Cube, so it can be considered a shapemod of that puzzle.
Edge length: 60 mm
Weight: 50 grams

In 2019 a mass produced puzzle named "DNA 3x3x3 Magic Cube" hit the market. It looks similar but uses 6 colours in a classic arrangement and a traditional mechanism which is visible from outside.
