A custom Rubik's Magic showing the Macross/Robotech SDF-1.
Macross is a series of anime television shows and movies.
Tim's Comments: "I was inspired to try my own hand at it when I won an original Rubik's Master Magic in the box for $125 on eBay and realized that it was strung exactly the same way that the Rubik's Magic was, just with more tiles. I've since improved on the stringing pattern. Where the commercial versions have tiles strung in a 4, 2, 4, 2... pattern, creating an unbalanced load on some puzzles, all of mine as strung as 3, 3, 3, 3... making it much more even."
The painting in image 3 (the Macross SDF-1) inspired the front view.
The painting in image 4 inspired the back view. It was painted by Haruhiko Mikimoto (who signed the work "Hal"), and is a painting of Macross character "Lynn Minmei".
