The core of this puzzle is a Crazy 3x3x3 Mercury modified to allow the circles to rotate freely within the surrounding layers.
The inventor designed, printed and glued extensions onto the circle pieces to give the puzzle the shape of a dodecahedron.
One interesting property is demonstrated in image 5: If one turns all outer layers by 90� the puzzle still has its original shape although reoriented with respect to the core.
