This 3x3x3 is a complete new design. It was inspired by a discussion on the forum of this website.
It acts like a Rubik's Cube with blocked layers. Only three layers can turn, i.e. those in which the rounded "enabler" cubie resides. This puzzle is sort-of the opposite of Fused Cube, where the three layers of the special corner cubie cannot turn.
Another explanation would be: Only three adjacent wide moves (face turn plue underlying slice move) are allowed.
Like the Fused Cube, the Enabler Cube is a doctrinaire twisty puzzle.
The number of permutations of this cube is 1/2 of the number for the unrestricted cube.
