The original X-Cube is a shape transformation of the 3x3x3 first created by Jürgen Brandt. This variation implements the same idea for the 4x4x4 aka junior cube. The first version reimplements the stickering scheme of the original variants.
In 2006 Hidetoshi Takeji implements another sample in this shape but stickers it in a more "traditional" way. See the 4th image as reference.
