This is one of the possible bandaged Square-1's.
It was named with respect to Square-2 where pieces of the original puzzle were split up. In this case some pieces were fused. The result resembles the 2x2x2 since there are eight identical pieces outside the middle layer and only 90�-moves are useful for the top and bottom layers. Therefore one property of the original Square-1 (behaving as a bandaged puzzle) is removed from the puzzle.
Later the puzzles with this mechanism became known as Square-0.
In addition to gluing some pieces together the puzzle was built to be midtwist-puzzle. The second image shows the true solved state.

No later than 2022 a mass produced version hit the market. See images 4-11.
