A Mixup Cube with one middle layer deleted and transformed into a half-regular shape.

Hex Cube is a twisty puzzle with ten squares and eight triangles. The puzzle has two hexagonal cross-sections and one 4-fold symmetry.
The puzzle allows rotations through the octagonal base of the puzzle and roations of the four "sides" each consisting of two squares and four triangles. These sides can be rotated by steps of 60 and if the other set of triangles do not block the moves all described rotations are possible. The puzzle can be described as if one middle layer of a mixup cube was deleted.
If the possible rotations are well-defined the puzzle is a doctrinaire.
Mixup Cube 2x4x4 is based on the geometry of Hex Cube.
