Three samples of a Square-1 combined with what looks like a 2x2x2.

The creator of this puzzle, Oliver Polspoel, presented it during the Dutch Cube Day 2008 in Eindhoven. The "core" of this puzzle is a modified 4x4x4 bandaged to look like a 2x2x2. The original puzzle has subsequently been reinvented several times without knowledge of the original puzzle. Amongst the recreators are CLaus Wenicker, Ryan Binter and Li Chung Man. The images used here show the sample of Ryan Binter which looks very similar to the original puzzle but it is a completely new design and was 3D-printed.
