"A Megaminx with gears"
A brilliant design for a very short description.

After seeing the Gear Cube, several people suggested to design a Gear Minx. Although this is easily conceived and suggested, it took Oskar quite a long time to come up with this final design. The fundamental question was: how many edges should have a gear?

It can be shown that there can not be more than 15 edges with gears. More gears would leave at least one side totally blocked. Oskar decided to introduce 6 gears and place them in a symmetric (cube-like) pattern.

A Gear Minx has 62 (!) different possible twists. Sometimes a side maybe twisted without any other. There are 30 cases where two sides move with a gear between them. There are 20 additional cases where three sides move with two or three gears between them.
Edge length: 32 mm
Weight: 114 grams
