A face turning octahedron truncated into the shape of an icosahedron.
The name of this puzzle says it all: It is a face turning octahedron (aka FTO) which was truncated to give it the shape of an icosahedron. No extending of any kind was needed to transform the original puzzle into this shape.
Although the faces look different this puzzle does not change shape. At first this might be strange since the icosahedron and octahedron do not share the same symmetry group. This works either because the tetrahedral symmetry group (which "natural" axis system is the FTO) is a subgroup of both: the icosahedron and the octahedron.
