This puzzle is a truncated axis cube. The axis cube itself is a modified 3x3x3 which is made by truncating a 3x3x3 into a hexagonal dipyramid (the shape of this puzzle!) and afterwards extending the faces of the original puzzle.
This means the Hexis is a truncated-extended-truncated 3x3x3 for which both truncating techniques are identical but differently oriented.
Due to the monochromatic stickers and some identically shaped pieces the number of permutations is reduced compared to the 3x3x3.
