The inventor of this transformation wanted to try something new after pillowing some puzzles and came up with this.
The mechanism of a standard DIY would allow a bit of concavity by hand (with filling) but the challenge on the Inverted 3x3x3 was to go quite a bit deeper than a standard mechanism would allow.
A standard DIY-A has a 36 mm interior circle, but the distance between centers on the Inverted 3x3x3 is only 30 mm, which requires a completely different mechanism.
Not many have been made and thin parts mean they are fairly fragile. Both black and white have been made.
