The author was not the first one to build a 3x3x3 in this shape but this is the first 3x3x3 which was transformed into this shape by truncating only. Rhombic triacontahedron is the name of a catalan solid which consists of 30 uniform rhiombi. Since the rhombic triacontahedron has a different symmetry group than the axis system of the 3x3x3 this puzzle inevitably changes its shape if more than just 180�-turns are used. Links
