The same technique which transforms a 3x3x3 into a Trajber's octahedron applied to a megaminx. The corners become triangular faces. The edges stay edges but change their shape. The faces become corners.
The first time a puzzl like this was invented was in 1981 by Ordynets Alexander although that was forgotten until some old images were brought back to light in 2012. This first sample must have been made from scratch because the megaminx didn't exist in this time.
Until 2012 Jürgen Brandt was credited with the first built of this puzzle in 2004. Jürgen made his sample from a megaminx.
