This must be the result of a challenge: "How few stickers can one place on a 3x3x3 and still keep it complete, aka every permutation distinguishable?" In this case the puzzle forms a Super Cube with the orientation of faces visible. Even more amazing the the pattern of the two squares is the same on the six sides except one.
