The Pocket Cube somewhat revived the concept of bandaged cubes. The inventor tried to resemble the concept on a 7x7x7. He is not the first one to do so but the predecessor's pieces are bandaged into blocks of 2x2x2. This new variant uses blocks of size 3x3x3.
